Aarhus Festuge, in English referred to as Aarhus Festival (Danish: Århus Festuge), is literally translated to "Aarhus Party Week", however, it represents a yearly arts and culture festival in the city of Aarhus, Denmark. The festival was established in 1964, debuted in 1965 and has since then become one of the largest themed festivals in northern Europe.
Every year a subject is chosen as the overall theme of the festival, and exhibitions and venues are planned accordingly. The theme for Aarhus Festival 2011 is "Beautiful Mistakes" and the Festival will take place from August 26 to September 4.
In 2010, the theme was "Neighbours", in 2009 it was "The Future Is Near!" and in 2008, "Open City" was the main theme of Aarhus Festival. In 2007, the theme was "Dance", and in 2006 the theme was centred around "Women and women's culture". The festival covers subjects ranging from dance, theater, exhibitions, classical and rhythmic concerts, opera, children's culture, sport and entertainment. The many regular venues repeated yearly are supplemented by the theme-inspired venues which change according to the selected theme of that year.
